Beschreibung

Like nearby Pompeii, ancient Herculaneum suffered a similar fate at the hands of Vesuvius erupting in 79AD. Fortunately, archaeologists have managed to excavate parts of the city, and this half-day tour will show you what they've managed to unearth so far.

Fossilised in time by the volcanic rock that tragically buried the city, wandering around the archaeological site of Herculaneum is just like stepping through an open-air history book. This bite-size tour will take you to and from the site in just one morning, with enough time to explore the historical relics on a guided walk.

You'll even see preserved pieces of furniture, upper wooden floors of houses, mosaics on the floor and sculptures as you take a peek around the houses and streets. All this has made it a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and provides you with an unrivalled insight into life of the ancient Romans.

You're not allowed to enter the site with rucksacks, handbags, luggage and any cases larger than 30 x 30 x 15cm. There are cloakrooms you can use free of charge
On the first Sunday of each month, entrance to archaeological sites are free of charge. This has already been deducted from the price on the relevant dates
Please note, the duration of this tour is around five hours, with a two-hour guided tour around the archaeological site
Official admission prices are €16 for adults, €2 for EU citizens aged 18–25, and free for children under 18, as well as for everyone on the first Sunday of each month. The price difference reflects the additional services included in the offer.

Very informative, the guide was knowledgeable and explained everything clearly. Gave a sense of life at the time of the eruption of Vesuvius and the tragedy as well as information about the town’s rediscovery.

Your guide was more interested in getting the job over with, and zoom around the ruins as quick as she could missing chucks out of the experience. The tour at the pick up point started, but descended into a 2 hour tour by coach of Sorrento because due pick ups from different hotels like was on the way back. The promised time of 45 min was cut short to 10min after a phone call asking where she was from the Pompeii site. Less than 90 minutes on site, not good enough. Big let down.

Tout d'abord, vous vous arrêterez dans le village de Positano, accroché à la falaise, où chaque maison semble être empilée sur la suivante. Ce splendide ensemble de maisons colorées accrochées au flanc de la montagne est l'une des curiosités classiques de l'Italie. Après une courte visite, vous profiterez d'un peu de temps libre, avant de partir déjeuner dans un restaurant familial situé dans le village perché de Pontone. Francesca ajoute : "Pontone est l'un de mes endroits préférés sur la côte amalfitaine, car c'est le plus ancien village de la région, et il est toujours aussi authentique : un joyau peu connu avec des vues épiques".Vous continuerez en direction du ravissant Ravello. Avec votre guide, vous verrez le village avec son Duomo orné, datant du 11e siècle, et une série de somptueuses villas offrant des vues incroyables sur la côte. Après votre visite guidée, vous terminez avec du temps libre pour explorer.
