Bei einem Spaziergang entlang dieser 5 km langen Levada haben Sie die Gelegenheit, die malerischen Landschaften des Tals Serra da Água zu bewundern. Die Levadas sind Kanäle, die das Wasser vom Norden in den Süden Madeiras bringen.

Auf dieser Wanderung, die im Gebiet von Campanário beginnt, können Sie die Vielfalt der lokalen Flora und Fauna entdecken und einige der bekanntesten Orte an der Südküste der Insel bewundern, wie Encumeada, Ribeira Brava und Campanario.

    We opted for the 5km walk along a Levada. This was very easy going for us and no hills to contend with. The guide we hade was very enthusiastic and informative. We enjoyed the experience very much.

    It would have been good, if clients would have been advised to bring walking poles. We had ours, but a lady fell over and cut her head, towards the end of the walk. With a walking pole this might not have hapenrd

When the island was discovered in 1419 by Portuguese explorers, this is where they first landed.Heading off-road towards the north, you'll zigzag through an ancient laurel forest – a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999 – on scenic trails towards the mountain town of Santana to see its steep-roofed, straw-thatched homes. After a well-deserved lunch break in a typical local restaurant, you'll round off with a pit stop at a nearby viewpoint, offering knockout coastal panoramas all the way to Madeira's easternmost point, the São Lourenço peninsula.
