The Gallery of Maps is a real highlight, with beautifully detailed depictions of Italy, and the Raphael Rooms are a treat, especially knowing they were painted by the man himself. 3. Attend a Papal Audience If you’re in Vatican City on a Wednesday, you might just catch a Papal Audience. It’s a chance to see the Pope in person and hear him share a few words with the crowd. You don’t have to be religious to find it interesting – it’s part of a centuries-old tradition and brings a real sense of occasion to the atmosphere. Tickets are free, but you’ll need to book ahead.
