Att göra – Livraria Lello-bokhandel
Lello Bokhandel, även känd som Livraria Lello & Irmão och Livraria Chardron, är en bokhandel som ligger i norra portugisiska kommunen Porto. Tillsammans med Bertrand i Lissabon är det en av de äldsta bokhandlarna i Portugal och rankas ofta bland de bästa bokhandlarna i världen. Ursprunget till Lello bokhandel tar oss tillbaka till 1881, då bröderna José och António Lello öppnade i Porto en anläggning dedikerad till handel och utgåva av böcker. José Lello drömde om att bli bokhandlare, vilket gick i uppfyllelse 1881. Flera år senare kom också hans bror, António Lello, in i denna bokhandlarverksamhet. Det är först 1894 som José Lello köper Chardron-bokhandel med dess exklusiva arkiv. Chardron-bokhandel hade redan gjort sitt namn i händerna på franska Ernesto Chardron, efter att ha publicerat de första upplagorna av ikoniska verk som Eça de Queirós eller Camilo Castelo Branco. Den 13 januari 1906 invigdes Livraria Lellos byggnad som vi känner den idag, formad av ingenjör Francisco Xavier Esteves magnifika vision.

“Our driver/ guide was a young man, born and raised in Vila Nova de Gaia, and familiar with the history and typical spots of Porto. He told anecdotes with a mix of humor and irony. Romantic spot was a park, overseeing the river Douro towards the Atlantic Ocean, with a ruby port. Well hit and funny.”
