Tillbringa några timmar med att utforska Nerja-grottan, 45 minuters bilresa från Malagas centrum, så förstår du vad vi menar. Grottsystemet sträcker sig över fem kilometer och upptäcktes 1959 av en grupp unga pojkar som var ute på upptäcktsfärd. Experter tror att hela platsen kan vara äldre än fem miljoner år. Och all den tiden har inte varit förgäves. Nerja Cave är hem till världens största stalaktit – den är över 32 meter hög – samt intrikata hällmålningar från stenåldern, för över 12 000 år sedan. Under ditt besök kan du besöka den offentliga gallerian, som inkluderar en upplyst gångväg som slingrar sig runt några av grottans mest imponerande klippformationer.
