Under denna halvdag får du utforska Kos stad helt i egen takt. Här i öns charmiga huvudort finns massor att se och göra. Du blir hämtad vid ditt hotell och avsläppt mitt i centrum, för att sedan använda tiden till det du själv har lust med.

Många går raka spåret ner till den mysiga hamnen, som kantas av caféer och tavernor och är ett bra ställe för dig som vill insupa stadens atmosfär medan du äter dig igenom smårätterna i en meze-lunch. Längst bort i hamnen ligger slottet, som restes av Johanniterriddarna på 1300-talet. I andra delar av staden hittar du de romerska baden, den antika arenan och Agoran, liksom även det charmiga Elefteristorget med saluhall, shopping och restauranger.

Det nyligen renoverade Arkeologiska museet är fullt av spännande antika sevärdheter från skulpturer till mosaik. Och under Hippokrates uråldriga platanträd är det många som tar en selfie. Det finns också en fin liten klapperstensstrand om du vill vila en stund efter all sightseeing. Din transport tillbaka till hotellet går kl 13.30.

We were left waiting on the side of the road for 50 minutes for a bus that turned up at 9:10 not 8:20 as stated with no communication. Pregnant partner and a toddler this isn’t great

Coach driver prompt and polite. Appreciate it was self guided tour but there was a guide on the bus who could have given a little more info. May be trip could come with small map/suggestions? The castle in Kos town is shut for refurb. Most archeological sites seem to shut Tues (we went Monday) so if had booked a day after (nearly did) would have been cross. Essentially was just an expensive bus ticket but went door to door and we enjoyed visiting Kos town.

Very disorganised we were left at the marina no guide and not told when to return or where to return to for the return bus. Was supposed to include an audio guide but this did not materialise. The other tui guides in other tours were unhelpful and did not speak English or at least didn’t when I tried to ask them for help.

The coach came on time to the hotel and we spent over 4 hours in Kos town as per the tour information. No guide as stated but the driver did make sure we knew the coach number and pick up point etc., before we left the coach. Not sure there is much wrong with the trip as only about 3or 4 pick ups/drop offs in our area. Probably only took about 10 minutes longer than by taxi due to pick ups.

Next, step back in time at ancient Asclepeion, which remains one of Greece's most important archaeological sites. Here, you'll have free time to explore and imagine Hippocrates, who was born on the island of Kos, undergoing his medical education at the Asclepeion. Among the attractions are the remains of the world's first hospital, where doctors learned about medicine from Hippocrates, and studied how to treat disease. You'll also visit the mountain village of Zia, which sprawls beneath Mount Dikaios and is best known for traditional architecture and wonderful views of the coast. After lunch in a typical restaurant, it's on to taste local wine at a wine factory, and honey in a honey factory.
