Beschreibung

Lanzarote's mineral-rich volcanic soils are the key to its excellent wines. This morning tour takes you to three wineries to sample some of their award-winning organic wines. Plus, you'll also visit the Monumento del Campesino to see the famous farmer's monument. Teresa, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘Our island's wines are the fruit of our ingenuity in harnessing the destruction wrought by Mother Nature into an art – a common thread that weaves together islander and landscape.'

After pick-up, you'll head straight for the Monumento del Campesino, designed by legendary Lanzarote architect Cesar Manrique. Built in his trademark style that fused whitewashed structures with volcanic bubbles and exotic plants, it's a joy to explore. Then, it's off to the family-owned Bodega La Geria. Here, vines are shielded from the winds by horseshoe-shaped stone walls, while the humidity retained by the ash helps them grow in this harsh climate. Enjoy a guided tour of the winery and taste some of its prized Malvasia wines.

Next, just a few volcanoes up the road, is Bodegas El Grifo – the oldest winery in the Canaries. Housed in a colonial-style hacienda surrounded by cacti, it's been producing wines since 1775. Owned by the Garcia Duran family, its wines are regular prize winners. Rounding off the tour is Bodega Suarez, a charming winery that offers visitors an authentic taste of the island's unique wine culture. Here, you'll indulge in the perfect pairing of cheese with two wines.

An additional 10 mins or so at each place would be better. Other than that it was a very good tour

Half-day guided volcano and wine tour in southern Lanzarote

Half-day guided volcano and wine tour in southern Lanzarote

Spend an afternoon in southern Lanzarote on this half-day guided tour, combining volcanic landscapes with local flavours. As your guide Carlos says, “southern Lanzarote's got a vibe all of its own, with lava cliffs, vineyards growing out of craters and sunsets that'll make you stop and stare.”You'll kick things off in the village of Yaiza, known for its traditional white buildings, palm-lined streets and quiet atmosphere. A stroll through the Plaza de los Remedios is the ideal introduction to this laidback, rural part of the island. Next, you'll take a look at the coastal scenery during a walk along Playa Montana Bermeja, where black volcanic sand meets the Atlantic Ocean. Then, swing by Bodega Finca Mota Artesanal in Conil, a charming, family-run winery offering more than just a taste. The winery is steeped in a deep love for tradition, agriculture, and the sea. The owners transformed their home into a living museum full of vintage objects and nostalgic touches that take you back in time. As Carlos puts it, “it's not just about sipping wine – it's about an immersive atmosphere where every detail from the décor to the story feels like stepping into a family archive, and where wine is made by hand with minimal intervention.” Finally, you'll wrap up your tour at Volcan del Cuervo, a volcanic crater in the middle of La Geria – AKA wine country. It's one of Lanzarote's most accessible volcanic sites – you can walk right into the crater – and was born during the massive Timanfaya eruptions that began in 1730. You'll arrive just before sunset, the perfect time to take it all in as the sun sets across the lava fields.

Lanzarote landscapes tour with wine-tasting at a local bodega

Get ready to fill your camera roll with the beauty of northern Lanzarote. From the Cactus Garden in Guatiza and sugar cube-like villages to the lava coast and family-run bodega, every stop reveals another layer of life here. Expert local guide, Ana, says, "we take the afternoon at a relaxed pace, soaking up the views and taking time to appreciate the connection between the ancient volcanic land and what we're able to craft and produce from it."Your journey begins in Guatiza with a photo stop outside the iconic Cactus Garden, created by legendary local artist Cesar Manrique. From the sea of prickly green, you'll head to the turquoise of the Atlantic lapping against the black volcanic rock and white sands of Caletón Blanco. Ana, adds, “the contrasting landscapes will have you thinking you've travelled across countries, yet in just 20 minutes, you'll be in the Valley of a Thousand Palms, where arid stretches are replaced with wildflowers and green date palms.” You'll visit the valley's village of Haria, where you can drop into traditional craft shops or opt to visit the Cesar Manrique House Museum – just so you know, this is at your own cost. Then, at the family-run bodega in Ye, you'll get a true taste of Lanzarote. Artisanal cheeses and wines produced from the island's mineral-rich terrain are on your tasting menu as you hear more about how they're made. Your final stop tops off the day – literally. From Mirador de las Nieves, you'll get sweeping views of the jagged volcanic cliffs that make this part of the island so unmissable.
